Bordeaux and American Blends
(Bordeaux France is the birth place of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The areas wines are a blend of one to five of these grapes. Much heavier in terroir (the flavor of the soil) than American blends. Considered the greatest growing region and pioneers of luxury wines. Many luxury American blends (Opus One, Insignia, etc.) are duplications of this style, just grown in America.
